Question
When will the data from my class go into the data portal?

In late June of 2020, Let's Go Learn did a significant upgrade.  We added formative assessments into our system. As a result, student testing now produces three levels of test data:

  1. Comprehensive diagnostics:  DORA, ADAM, etc.  Assessments with multiple scores in them called "multiple measures."
  2. Sub-test diagnostics:  Single individual sub-tests like fractions or phonics, etc.
  3. Skills/concept testing: Individual quizzes like "short vowel," "adding fractions with like denominator," etc.

Because we now have multiple sources of data and because we need all this data to flow into the same "universal" dataset, the data portal takes all data from the week, Sunday to Saturday, and stores them in a weekly snapshot. 

The advantage of this model is as follows:

  • All data flows into the same universal dataset.
  • Data is based on Active Pulse data model which looks for growth and smoothly out testing dips or false negative scores.
  • Teachers do not have to aggregate different types of test data for reporting.  In other words, progress monitoring is automatic.
  • A weekly reporting paradigm is easier to manage.  i.e. week 1 to week 6.  Or week 1 to week 8.

The disadvantages:

  • Snapshot data is not generated until the end of the week.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
