Question
Best Practices for Using Edge on iPads

Answer

Below are a few tips for using Edge on iPads.  Please share this tip sheet with other teachers and with your students.

iPad users must use Safari only and not Chrome.

CLOSE ALL EXTRA TABS

After completing a lesson and returning to the lesson map, if you plan to continue on to the next lesson, please click on and close any tabs entitled “Star App: Add A Student.”  Before clicking on the next green lock, you should always have only one tab open entitled “Edge.”  This will be the most recent updated Edge lesson list.

LOG OUT CORRECTLY

When you have finished your lessons for the day, please follow the steps below.

Step 1 – Tap the blue box located near the top right of the screen.

Step 2 – Tap the “Logout” button appearing on the left side of the page.

  Steps 3 & 4 – Close any open tabs.

If you need to log out prior to finishing a lesson, click on the white arrow shown below and then choose “EXIT”.  This will properly log you out of the lesson and record your usage.  Then log out of your Let’sGoLearn account.

CLOSE ALL APPS

Before turning your iPad off, please close any apps that may still be running.

Click on the home button twice.  This should show all apps that are currently open.  “Swipe up” on each app to close.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
