Question
If my student has taken more than one type of math assessment, which assessment gets aligned for Math Edge V3?

Answer

When you enroll a student into Math Edge, it will align lessons based on the last math assessment completed.

Example 1:  A student completes an ADAM assessment first and then completes a Pre-Algebra assessment.  If you click the "Enroll" button after both tests, the Math Edge alignment will be based on the Pre-Algebra assessment.

Example 2: A student completes an ADAM assessment and is enrolled into Math Edge. The student later completes a Pre-Algebra assessment. Math Edge will update the lessons based on some components of the Pre-Algebra assessment, since this assessment covers some areas of the ADAM assessment, if there is a change in the Active Pulse score.  If the teacher wants the student to work on Math Edge based only on this Pre-Algebra assessment, the course must be closed and then re-enrolled. The alignment will then be based on the last completed assessment, which would be the Pre-Algebra test.

Please note - since the Math Edge program now continues to give student lessons above the grade level of the student, so it may not be necessary to close enrollment.  The program is designed to not assign lessons that students have already completed in Edge for the current school year.

Exampe 3:  A student completes a Pre-Algebra assessment and is enrolled into Math Edge.  The student later completes an Algebra assessment.  The Math Edge alignment does not get updated because Algebra has a different alignment track and does not cross over with Pre-Algebra.  If the teacher would like the Math Edge alignment to be based on the Algebra assessment, the Math Edge course must be closed and then re-enrolled.  The alignment will then be based on the last completed assessment, which would be the Algebra assessment.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
