Let's Go Learn Knowledge Base
Question
How do I change the setting in Chrome to open PDF reports and files with Acrobat Reader?

Answer

Chrome comes with a built-in PDF viewer. Unfortunately, it does not view all PDFs and will not view Let's Go Learn PDFs since they contain graphs and other rich media that require the real Adobe Acrobat Reader. Here's how to make Chrome use Adobe Acrobat.

Install Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat if it is not already installed.
Get Latest Acrobat Reader

Turn off Chrome default PDF viewer
1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. In your web address bar, type  chome:settings.
3. Under "Privacy and security," click Site Settings.

- Note that in this window you will need to scroll down and click on "Additional content settings" to get to "PDF Documents."  Click on arrow showing to right.

4. Toggle Blue to turn on "Download PDF files instead of auctomatically opening them in Chrome."

This will allow Chrome to open your PDF report using the default PDF view that is set by your computer rather than with Chrome's default PDF viewer.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
