How do I assign my students an assessment?

There are two ways students can start an assessment. They can use their unique student login or the teacher can start the test from the teacher account.

Before a student can access the test, though, the teacher will have to assign the student the assessment from the teacher account. You can assign assessments to students from either the CLASS or TESTING QUEUE tab.

Assigning assessments from the CLASS tab

Assigning assessments for the whole class:

  • On the "Class" tab, choose the class you wish to assess and click "Change Class."
  • Click "View Class Queue" on the same page.
    • Comprehensive Diagnostics
      • Click on "Select test" and select from the tests on the drop down menu.

    • Spanish Assessments
      • Click on "Actions" box and click on "Queue"

-The result will show the number of students Queued for your Class.
Note: If there are any in-progress assessments that are more than four weeks old, they are no longer valid. Terminate these assessments before activating the new ones.

Assigning assessments for an individual student:

  • On the "Class" tab, click "View Queue" next to the individual student to be assessed.
    • Comprehensive Diagnostics
      • Click on "Select test" and select from the tests on the drop down menu.

    • Spanish Assessments
      • Click on "Actions" box and click on "Queue"

-The result will show "Ready" under the Status column.

Assigning assessments using the TESTING QUEUE tab

Assigning assessments for the whole class:

  • Click on "Manage Class Queue"
    • Comprehensive Diagnostics
      • Click on "Select test" and select from the tests on the drop down menu.

  •
    • Spanish Assessments
      • Click on "Actions" box and click on "Queue"

The result will show the number of students Queued for your class.

Assigning assessments for an individual student:

  • Click the “Add/Edit” button next to the individual student to be assessed.
    • Comprehensive Diagnostics
      • Click on "Select test" and select from the tests on the drop down menu.

    • Spanish Assessments
      • Click on "Actions" box and click on "Queue"

The result will show "Ready" under the Status column.

Once the steps above have been completed, students can log in using their unique student login or the teacher can log them in from the teacher account.

To log a student in from the teacher account:
-Go to the "Class" tab and click "Begin" in the "Start" column. This will start the assessment for that student on the computer the teacher is currently logged into.  Please note that once clicking "Begin" from the teacher account, the teacher is now logged out of his or her account and the student is logged in.  This is in place so a student cannot click the back button and see and/or edit any information on the teacher account.  The teacher will need to log back into his or her account to access the students again.

**When assigning ADAM - for the majority of the students, you can leave the target grade as "default" because it is an adaptive assessment which will adjust to students' abilities.  You also have the option to adjust the starting grade level for students with IEP's.  Click Here for directions or click on file named "How do I use the ADAM queue for students with IEPs?" in the Attachments section below.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quick Base often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quick Base finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quick Base needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
