New ADAM Summary Report Added with No Grade-Level References
While the grade-level scores across the 44 sub-tests of ADAM are extremely helpful in diagnosing students’ abilities in foundational mathematics, they can sometimes be intimidating for students when shared with them. So we added a new ADAM summary report without any reference to grade levels. Red and green bars are still present in the graphs, so when teachers share this report with students, students can still identify the areas on which they need to focus. The raw scores that show how many skills within each sub-test's scope and sequence have been mastered are still present. For example, a student may see that he or she has mastered 7 out of 7 addition skills, but in fractions he or she has mastered only 20 out of 26 skills.
It is increasingly common in today's classrooms that teachers are sharing their data with students. When students are brought into the process, they become invested in improving their skills. We have heard many stories in which students have completely turned around upon becoming engaged in the process. Our ADAM and DORA reports are allowing this to happen by giving teachers and students a tangible means of knowing where they stand in reading and mathematics.
