Question
What areas of reading does DORA cover?

Answer
DORA Sub-tests

High-Frequency Words (HF) - These are sight words. This is the only timed sub-test. Score Range: 0.50 to 3.83 (Mid-K to High 3rd)

Word Recognition (WR) - Word identification of grade leveled words. Score Range: 0.50 to 12.83 (Mid-K to High 12th)

Phonics (PH) - Steps through phonics principles. Score Range: 0 to 4.83 (Low-K to High 4th) - Phonics Skills  PDF listed below under attachments.

Phonemic Awareness (PA) - Given to PreK to 2. Above grade 2 given only if low in decoding. Note: If a PA score does not exist, the student may not have been tested in this category because diagnosis on other sub-tests told us the student didn't need phonemic awareness

Score Range:

Grades 2 and above:
0-43% = Probable weakness in PA
44-65% = Partial mastery in PA
66+% = Probable effective PA skills
Grades PreK to 1:
0-22% = Probable weakness in PA
23-54% = Partial mastery in PA
55+% = Probable effective PA skills

Spelling (SP) - Assess learner's spelling skills.  Score Range: 0.5 to 12.83 (Mid-K to High 12th) Note: If a student has a non-mastery on the lowest set of both High-frequency words and Word Recognition, the adaptive logic of DORA will turn the spelling sub-test off and a score of NT will appear.

Vocabulary (VO) - Assess learner's receptive oral vocabulary skills.  Score Range: 0.50 to 12.83 (Mid-K to High 12th)

Comprehension (CO) - Passages are written with low vocabulary in order to test comprehension strategies skills without being pushed downward by test-takers with low academic vocabulary. Score Range: 0.50 to 12.83 (Mid-K to High 12th) Note: If a student has a non-mastery on the lowest set of both High-frequency words and Word Recognition, the adaptive logic of DORA will turn the spelling sub-test off and a score of NT will appear.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistenciesin this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
