Question
Why does my student keep repeating an Edge lesson?  It isn't advancing.
  
Answer

1) If a student stops before completing an entire lesson, they may log out and their minutes will be recorded on the teacher account.  The lesson progress will also be saved and it will pick up where the student left off when they log back in.  Please note: students must log out properly after working on a lesson - Click Here for details.

2) If a student completes a lesson and then quickly clicks on the "exit" button or closes the browser/window, the lesson will not advance nor will their usage be recorded. The lesson must complete on its own and push the student back to the lesson map.

Don't confuse the 100 points that a student earns with his or her percent correct score. At the end of all lessons, there is an exciting announcement of 100 points. But this is NOT the lesson score. 

3) If a student does not complete a lesson within 90 minutes, the student may experience a session time-out or error. The lesson will appear to complete but the student's session will freeze. The student may experience a Panda error or the student will receive the message "Sorry, your session has timed out.  Any progress for the Edge lesson has not been recorded." He or she will have to quit the browser and then log back in cleanly. A lesson will also time out after 30 minutes if a student does not press any keys or the touchscreen.

Edge Score Ranges per lesson:

75%-89% Bronze level Medal/Star
90%-94% Silver level Medal/Star
95%-100% Gold level Medal/Star

NOTE: The new Edge V3 has a feature called Autoskip.  If a lesson is attempted 4 times and does not reach a minimum score of 75%, the lesson will be marked "Skipped" and the student will be able to continue to the next lesson.  They can always go back and take the lessons again.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistenciesin this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
